General Overview: Warburgia ugandensis, a member of the Canellaceae, Canellales, is widely used for its pharmacological properties, also known as Ugandan greenheart or simply greenheart tree, is a species of evergreen tree native to East Africa. Countries in which the plant species is found include Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda.

Biological Characteristics:The medicinal effectiveness of W. ugandensis is mainly associated with abundant terpenoids, particularly drimane and coloratane-type sesquiterpenoids, as well as fatty acid derivatives in the leaf and bark tissues
